This restaurant is part of the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, the world's first museum bridging art and design. To convey the charm of Toyama Prefecture to the many visitors from both Japan and overseas, we are committed to using ingredients sourced from all 15 cities and towns within the prefecture, as well as tableware crafted by local artisans.
Among the fresh vegetables lovingly grown by our farmers, there are also some non-standard items that cannot be shipped simply due to slight imperfections in their shape. This restaurant collaborates with Toyama's farmers and producers to actively address the establishment of an ecosystem and the issue of food loss.
Operation: Toyama and Eat Co., Ltd. (a joint company of TOYAMATO Co., Ltd. and OAKS Co., Ltd.)
CONCEPT
A place where you can gain the value of a lifetime experience through the study of food and art. The concept of “Art and Eat” expresses our wish to build a delicious relationship between art and eat together with our customers. If the food is tasty and interesting, customers will want to share it with others, the media will pick it up, and the information will naturally spread. We will continue to develop our new restaurants, BiBiBi &JURULi, into media where you can eat and drink.
SERVICE
Menu and Our Commitment to Ingredients & Tableware
Our menu also embodies the concept of "Art and Eat." You can find dishes inspired by the works of Kandinsky, Warhol, and Pollock from the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art's collection, as well as desserts inspired by the "Onomatopoeia Rooftop" garden on the roof. We offer a rich selection of menu items that are not only delicious but also allow you to experience and learn about art.
We are thoroughly committed to using ingredients and tableware sourced from Toyama Prefecture. For the restaurant's opening, we established a network with producers from all 15 cities and towns in Toyama, offering a menu that generously features the seasonal ingredients of Toyama, including seafood, meat, and vegetables. Regarding tableware, we commissioned original products from Toyama's artisans and manufacturers, including lacquerware, unique wooden plates, cast aluminum dishes, glassware and ceramic tableware, and cement plates, all designed to enhance our menu.
Our Commitment to Creating the Space
The magnificent Tateyama Mountain Range, visible through the large south-facing glass windows, is also a highlight of BiBiBi & JURULi. We aimed to create a relaxed space where families can leisurely enjoy art and food in an open, white-based setting. The artwork "Dream Play Sequence" by artist Masaho Yano and curator Kento Tanbara, inspired by their approximately six-month fieldwork in Toyama, is exhibited within the restaurant. The murals, mobiles, and rug work all resonate with each other, making the restaurant space a unified work of art.
